Our projects create value
for all stakeholders
We’re proud of the partnerships and friendships we’ve made over decades in the renewables industry. Our relationships don’t fade with the passage of time, nor does our reputation for integrity and our pursuit of excellence.
Who we work with
Landowners
“They’re just down to earth people. They’re not what you expect from the corporate world… They did what they said they were going to do.”
Rebecca Deardorff,
Deardorff Farms Indiana
Leasing a portion of your land for clean energy production can provide farmers and ranchers with a reliable and substantial income source. While agricultural markets fluctuate, renewable energy consistently generates income, helping many landowners maintain their farms and ranches during challenging times.
As with any type of development, we know there are tradeoffs. Solar panels can reduce available land for farming, and wind turbines can visually change rural landscapes. We work openly and creatively with our landowner partners to develop projects that align with their values and objectives. Renewable energy production might not be the right choice for everyone, but for those who embrace it, the benefits can be transformative.
How does Orion choose its landowner partners?
There are two factors that drive a partnership — suitability of the land and aligned interests with the landowner. Orion does not have the ability to force agreements with landowners. We only seek partnerships in which landowners are enthusiastic about wind or solar farming and a mutually beneficial agreement can be crafted.

Who we work with
Public Officials
“Orion did exactly what they said they were going to do. There were no surprises, headaches, anything. It was flat out they said they were going to do it and they did it."
Jay Davis,
Trustee, Caldwell Memorial House
We work closely with elected officials and local government staff. Beginning early in the development process, we seek to provide as much information as we can including:
- Job creation
- Payments to local landowners
- Permitting
- Tax payments
- Road repair
- Contracting opportunities for local vendors during construction and operation
Our goal is to educate the public and decision makers by providing information and facts about the projects we are proposing. We strive to become a long-term partner with the communities in which we work.

Who we work with
Communities
“We had a lot of questions and concerns and Orion was very thorough and answered all our questions. We felt very comfortable so we moved forward. Looking back now I have noticed they were true to their word, they did what they said they were going to do and we appreciate that.”
Matt Shafer,
Shafer Farm
Our projects create hundreds of jobs during the construction phase. In the operations phase, they create skilled maintenance jobs, offer sales and contracting opportunities for local businesses, provide a diversified income source to project landowners, and generate significant property tax revenues. In some cases, a large wind or solar project is the largest taxpayer in a county.
We know that communities have questions about solar and wind energy projects. We try to talk to as many local officials, landowners, and interested citizens as we can about our proposed projects, about solar and wind generally, and about Orion.
