Marie Arjarun
Marie serves as Office Manager and Executive Assistant for Orion. She supports Orion’s operations by organizing and managing office systems and providing administrative support to Orion’s leadership and staff. Marie’s responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations, creating and maintaining data systems, scheduling meetings and event planning. She also serves as the main point of contact for landowners of Orion’s operating projects.Marie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and Occupational Health from the California State University of Northridge.

Jennifer Boehrer
Jennifer is the Accounting Manager at Orion and is responsible for managing all of the day-to-day accounting activities.Prior to joining Orion, Jennifer worked as a Corporate Controller and Accounting Manager in both the public and private sector and has over 15 years of accounting and management experience.

She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Management from the University of Phoenix.

Reid Buckley 
Reid has worked in the renewable power industry since 1992, holding senior development and finance positions at Tomen Power Corporation and Kenetech Windpower Inc. before joining Orion Energy LLC in 1999.  Prior to working in the energy industry, Reid worked at William Kent International, Bain & Company, and General Electric.

Reid received a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering mechanics from Yale University and a master’s degree in public and private management from the Yale School of Management.  He also spent a year as a Fellow of the Robert Bosch Foundation in Stuttgart, Germany.

Michael Cressner
Michael is Business Development Manager for Orion Renewable Energy Group, LLC where he manages the development of utility-scale wind and solar energy projects.

Michael brings a diverse background in both real estate and energy development. Prior to joining Orion he worked at STA Development, LLC managing the development, permitting, and business development of 1,500 MW of utility-scale solar projects in California as well as overseeing the sale of STA’s development assets. Michael also consulted with various clients on utility request for offers, portfolio development, and innovative community-based renewable energy initiatives. Before STA, Michael spent  managed the development of mixed-use affordable housing projects throughout San Francisco.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Kenyon College, OH.

Andrew Duszak
Andrew joined Orion in 2010 as lead GIS Analyst; he applies spatial research and map design expertise in the pursuit of renewable wind and solar energy sites across the United States.

Since 2003, Andrew has developed his GIS skills through classroom instruction and field data collection. In 2004, he volunteered for the Student Conservation Association in Idaho, working on the federal project, LANDFIRE, a multi-partner project that collected spatial data to model hazardous fuel build-up areas. He began his career in the Bay Area in 2005, at the UC Berkeley Traffic Safety Center as a Research Associate, investigating problematic cross walks and pedestrian safety.

Prior to joining Orion, Andrew worked for Dyett and Bhatia Urban and Regional Planners for as a GIS Specialist in San Francisco, concentrating on general plans and zoning.

Andrew received a Bachelor of Arts degree in geography from the University of Delaware.

Jim Eisen

Jim is Orion’s General Counsel.  He has been involved in the siting, permitting, development, financing and management of wind power projects since 1986.

Before joining Orion Energy LLC in 2002, Jim was VP and General Counsel of Kenetech Corporation and its wind energy subsidiary, Kenetech Windpower Inc.  Jim has also served as VP and Assistant General Counsel for Catellus Development Corporation, a real estate development company, and as VP – Policy and Regulatory Affairs for BP Wind Energy.  Prior to joining Kenetech, he practiced corporate law at law firms in San Francisco and New York.

Jim was an original member of the Board of Directors of the American Wind Wildlife Institute (, a non-profit organization that facilitates the responsible development of wind energy while minimizing impacts on wildlife and wildlife habitat.

He received Bachelor of Science degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a law degree from New York University’s School of Law.

Al Germain
Al Germain is the Head of Technology and Resource Assessment for Orion Renewable Energy Group and is responsible for managing site identification, data acquisition, wind and solar resource assessment, site layout design and operational performance auditing.

Al has more than 25 years of experience in the wind industry, working in the United States, Europe and Asia. He has held lead positions in resource assessment and site design for several major wind energy companies.

Mr. Germain received a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and atmospheric science from Oregon State University.

Analisa Garica
Analisa is the Assistant Paralegal to Orion’s real estate team. She helps sustain and manage landowner databases and files related to Orion’s project development and operating portfolio. Analisa’s duties include preparing and processing landowner documents, maintaining a functional filing system, and supporting Orion’s special projects as needed.

Analisa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Environmental Studies from San Francisco State University.

Michael Haas
Michael Haas is the Founder and CEO of Orion Renewable Energy Group LLC (Orion), Co-Founder of RDC Developments Ltd. (RDC), and the Founder of Alliance for Climate Education (ACE).

Orion, headquartered in Oakland, CA, was formed in 1998 and became an early pioneer in the development of low cost, utility scale renewable energy. The Company specializes in the development, finance, and construction of wind energy projects in the United States. RDC, headquartered in the U.K., was formed in 1997 to help achieve commitments set by the United Kingdom for new alternative energy generation. Wind energy projects developed by Orion and RDC generate enough zero-carbon electricity to meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 1,500,000 homes. Prior to forming Orion and RDC, Michael held executive positions with KENETECH Corporation, and served as an aerodynamicist with the McDonnell Douglas Corporation.

ACE was formed in 2008 to educate and inspire young people to break through the challenge of climate change. ACE believes that achieving a safe and stable climate in our lifetime requires the ideas, action, and influence of young people. In its first 4 years, ACE educators have reached nearly 1,600,000 high school students in the United States.

Michael received his Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, and his Master’s Degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Stanford University.

Michael lives in Northern California with his wife and three children. He spends his free time outdoors with his family.

Nicholas A Hiza
Nicholas Hiza is Chief Development Officer of Orion Renewable Energy Group LLC. Nicholas joined Orion in 2010 through the acquisition of Atlas Renewables LLC, a renewable energy firm he founded in 2009 to develop utility-scale solar projects.

Nicholas has spent the past eleven years working on the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects in every major electrical market in the United States, and Western Canada. From co-founding and running a small company focused on renewable energy development in the Northeast in the early 2000’s to forming and implementing regional renewable strategies and overseeing project development for two major renewable energy companies, he has broad experience in the field and has directly managed the development of thousands of megawatts of renewable energy projects  throughout the United States.

Nicholas earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Williams College, MA.

Michael Kurnik
Michael is a Project Manager with Orion, focusing on site prospecting, land acquisition, and project development of utility-scale wind and solar energy projects across the US.

Michael joined Orion in 2015 after moving to the United States from Sydney, Australia. While working in Sydney he was responsible for wind development in New South Wales for Epuron and his roles included early stage development, land acquisition, community consultation and government permitting. He is also qualified for meteorological tower maintenance and operating safely at heights.

Michael has completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical and Biomolecular) (Hons) from the University of Sydney.

Mark Lilly
Mark Lilly is Manager of Technology and Resource Assessment for Orion and has nearly 15 years of meteorological experience.  He is responsible for wind resource assessment and data analysis, identification of prospective sites, operational analysis, management of traditional meteorological tower and remote sensing monitoring programs, and software development.

Mark received a BS degree in Meteorology in 1999 from Millersville University, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science with a focus on Boundary Layer Meteorology from the University of Virginia 2004.

Before joining Orion, Mark was a Wind Resource Meteorologist with BP Alternative Energy.  Prior to entering the alternative energy sector Mark worked for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency supporting the Department of Defense’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and high Explosive hazard modeling; the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Division of Risk Assessment; Sonoma Technology providing air quality forecasting, analysis, and modeling;  and for the National Weather Service Techniques Development Laboratory assisting in the development of quantitative precipitation forecast algorithms.

Andrew Makee
Andrew is a Project Manager with Orion, focusing on site prospecting, land acquisition, and project development of utility-scale wind and solar energy projects across the US.

Andrew has a background in banking and began his career in renewable energy with Iberdrola Renewables. While at Iberdrola he was responsible for wind energy development in the southeastern U.S., including site prospecting, leasing land for projects, and permitting. Immediately prior to joining Orion, Andrew started his own utility-scale solar consulting business in 2012, siting projects and negotiating landowner agreements for clients in the Southeast.

Andrew earned a bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Ohio and a master’s degree in business administration from Western Carolina University.

Pete Mallonee
Pete is Director of Construction and Operations for Orion and oversees all aspects of project construction, operations and maintenance of renewable energy projects in the U.S.

Pete has been involved with every aspect of the wind industry for more than 20 years. He has also been part of over 2000 MW’s of installed capacity both domestically and internationally.

Ryan McGraw
Ryan is President of OEG.  Prior to joining Orion, Ryan served as General Counsel to PowerWorks LLC, a developer and operator of utility-scale wind energy facilities. He previously administered contracts for the Bonneville Power Administration, a branch of the U.S. Department of Energy, and managed an air-quality regulation program for Pacific Gas & Electric Co., a regulated utility company.

Ryan received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Davis in Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology, a Juris Doctorate from the Willamette University College of Law, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University.

Emily Molina
Emily is Real Estate Manager at Orion where she manages all real property and financing activities related to Orion’s development and operating portfolio, from verification of land ownership and obtaining title curative documents through securing ALTA surveys and title policies for projects to be built and financed.

Emily has more than 20 years of experience working with real estate transactions. Prior to joining Orion, Emily worked for BP Wind Energy North America Inc. where she completed real estate analysis and due diligence evaluation of several large and complex wind and solar projects throughout the United States and Mexico. Before BP, Emily gained valuable litigation experience working for Catellus Development Corporation, a real estate development company.

Ed Shoener
Ed is Founder and Principal of Shoener Environmental. He works jointly with Orion in developing renewable energy projects in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and other states in the eastern United States. Ed has a long standing relationship with Orion, dating back to 2001.

Lisa van Velsor
Lisa van Velsor is Real Estate Counsel for Orion Renewable Energy Group LLC. Before joining Orion, Lisa was an associate at Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP in the Real Estate and Energy & Infrastructure Practice Groups. Lisa has extensive experience in corporate real estate transactions, including leasing, sales and acquisitions, joint ventures, and financing. While at Orrick, Lisa supported the energy and infrastructure practice group with respect to real estate matters, with a focus on financing solar and wind developments.

Lisa received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a law degree from New York University’s School of Law.
